Walking above the cloud forest
From the ground, Panama's highland cloud forest is mostly trunks, ferns and moss. Up on the bridges it opens out. You're walking level with the canopy, looking straight across into the trees, with rivers and waterfalls below and Volcán Barú rising in the distance.
The trails between the bridges have some climbs and steps, so you'll want reasonable fitness and good shoes, but no experience of any kind. Kids can come along from age 6, which makes it one of the easiest ways for a family to get up into the canopy together.
It pairs nicely with the birdwatching tour for a slower day in the forest, or with the zipline canopy tour if you'd like to see the same trees at speed.
