Rum Tasting in Boquete

A rum tasting isn't what most people expect to find in the mountains around Boquete, which is half the fun. This is a proper guided tasting: you learn what actually separates one rum from another, then put it to the test with four different styles.

How the rum tasting works

The session covers everything that shapes a rum before it reaches your glass: how it's distilled, its strength, where it comes from, and how long and how it's aged. Then you learn to read it yourself, looking at color, presentation, bouquet and body.

The tasting runs through four rums in order, starting with an extra light and a light, moving on to an añejo and finishing with a cask-aged gold rum. Tasting them side by side is the fastest way to train your palate, and the differences tend to catch people off guard.

It all happens indoors, which makes it a good plan for a rainy afternoon. You'll be standing for the session, but no particular fitness is needed. It's strictly for adults 18 and over.
